1. If you wish (NYC edition) ...
Published: Nov. 17, 2008 - 12:33 p.m. - As the years passed, the dream stayed the same: live in New York and work at the network level. While some girls wished on stars for men to sweep them off their feet, I prayed, wished and hoped for a network exec to come calling.
2. Saturday Scorecard: It was nice knowin' ya, CC
Published: Nov. 15, 2008 - 08:41 a.m. - Diehard Brewers fans can uncross their fingers and step away from the rabbit's feet and four-leaf clovers. Chances of the Brewers retaining CC Sabathia evaporated when the Yankees reportedly offered the ace lefty a six-year, $140 million contract. Milwaukee fans will be left with the wonderful memories of Sabathia's 18 games, 134 1/3 innings, 537 batters faced and 1,979 pitches.

6. Brewers hire Randolph to be their bench coach
Published: Nov. 8, 2008 - 6:11 p.m. - When he wasn't hired to manage the Brewers last month, Willie Randolph figured his chances of returning to Milwaukee were shot. But, he works in baseball, an industry where you never say "never." In an announcement that came as a surprise to almost everyone, including the former Mets manager himself, the Brewers tabbed Randolph to be the bench coach for manager Ken Macha.
7. Saturday Scorecard: Brewers should keep Cameron
Published: Nov. 8, 2008 - 08:45 a.m. - Veteran centerfielder Mike Cameron will be 36 in January, he strikes out a lot, he's prone to hot streaks and long slumps and his defense might not be as good as it was seven or eight years ago. Despite all that, he's the best bet for the Brewers as they try to build on the success of their 2008 playoff run. Picking up his option was smart. Resisting the urge to trade him will be smart, too.
8. Kusnierek leaves sideline job at FSN Wisconsin
Published: Nov. 6, 2008 - 10:33 a.m. - Trenni Kusnierek is leaving Milwaukee -- again. The popular sideline reporter for Brewers and Bucks broadcasts gave her notice to FSN Wisconsin recently. Though she would not reveal her destination but sources say she could be headed for the MLB Network.
9. Saturday Scorecard: As the sporting world turns...
Published: Nov. 1, 2008 - 4:46 p.m. - For the second time in six years, the Brewers tried to hire Ken Macha. This time, it worked. Dale Sveum was gone, but now it looks like he's back. Aaron Rodgers got paid big bucks, while Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila was shown the door.

14. Sveum's plight a harsh reminder of reality in sports
Published: Oct. 21, 2008 - 05:24 a.m. - For fans, following a professional sports team is truly an affair of the heart. For the people who make a living in sports -- like former Brewers general manager Doug Melvin, owner Mark Attansio and recently rejected interim manager Dale Sveum -- it can be a cold, cruel and heartless business.
15. Help wanted: Experienced big-league manager
Published: Oct. 19, 2008 - 07:03 a.m. - Doug Melvin likes Dale Sveum. So did owner Mark Attanasio and the players. Despite a 7-5 finish and the franchise's first playoff berth since 1982, Melvin opted not to bring Sveum back as skipper in 2009 and is instead hoping to lure a manager with successful big-league experience.
16. Brenly seems to fit the bill as Brewers' next manager
Published: Oct. 18, 2008 - 4:54 p.m. - Based on the apparent criteria, the Brewers can halt their search for a new skipper right now. Cubs TV announcer Bob Brenly has it all: experience, a track record of post-season success, media savvy ... Still, it's not a slam-dunk. One of the only certainties in baseball is that the moves that seem logical, easy and obvious seldom work out that way.
17. Brewers to Dale Sveum: "Thanks, but no thanks."
Published: Oct. 17, 2008 - 7:55 p.m. - The Brewers announced a trio of moves tonight. They gave general manager Doug Melvin a three-year contract extension that will keep him in Milwaukee through 2012, removed Dale Sveum from consideration for the manager's job and dismissed hitting coach Jim Skaalen. Published: Oct. 11, 2008 - 2:23 p.m. - While Brewers fans continue to fantasize about the club signing CC Sabathia, another important free agent is hanging out at home in Hartland, waiting for the phone to ring. Pitching coach Mike Maddux's contract with the team is set to expire and -- depending what happens with the manager -- it's uncertain whether he will return to the club next season.
20. Reflections from a super-sad Sunday in sports
Published: Oct. 7, 2008 - 2:22 p.m. - While Prince Fielder and the Brewers watched an encouraging season sputter to a close with a loss to Philadelphia Sunday at Miller Park, the underdog Atlanta Falcons ran over and around the Packers, who suffered their third straight loss. The only thing that could have made things worse for local sports viewers was getting ptomaine poisoning from the ham and cheese sandwich.
21. Final playoff musings
Published: Oct. 6, 2008 - 10:34 a.m. - I had hoped to write this final Brewers playoff blog in a few weeks. But while my heart thought we'd go all the way, my brain knew a little better. And with Jeff Suppan taking the mound yesterday, these thoughts started swirling early.

22. Brewers Notebook: Postseason power outage
Published: Oct. 6, 2008 - 08:19 a.m. - A punchless offense brought the Brewers' postseason to a screeching halt. Now, it's time to reevaluate what went wrong, what worked and who will be back next year when Milwaukee tries to take the next step towards a championship. At the top of the to-do list: extending general manager Doug Melvin's deal and deciding whether or not to retain Dale Sveum.
23. Mission unaccomplished for Suppan, Brewers
Published: Oct. 5, 2008 - 5:43 p.m. - When the Brewers signed veteran right-hander Jeff Suppan to a four-year, $42 million contract before the 2007 season, they were banking on his experience and reputation as a "big-game" pitcher.
