What is a blog? For OMC, it is a short blurb that we write when the mood strikes us. It can be first person, funny or informative. In short, a blog is whatever we want it to be. Published Aug. 4, 2008 at 7:59 p.m.

With the Brewers battling for a playoff berth and the Packers sorting out their quarterbacks situation, local interest in ESPN's presentation of the Yankees-Rangers game Wednesday night may not be that intense.

Then again...

A few people may tune in to see what ESPN's Erin Andrews is wearing. Andrews, whose outfit created a stir last week at Miller Park, is scheduled to work the game.

Channel 4 sports reporter / anchor Jessie Garcia initially was unaware of Mike Nadel's column and the firestorm in created, but shared her thoughts on the situation in an e-mail to OnMadison.com.

"After reading up on it, my take is that it was simply a poor choice of outfit," Garcia wrote. "Should she have known better? Yes. Any female journalist should want to be taken seriously for her journalistic knowledge and not her clothing.

"I don't know Erin at all, but I have admired some of her work. I would hope that she would want people to remember her words, her interviews and her quick mind much more so than her hemline. I know I do."

Channel 12's Stephanie Sutton said in an e-mail:

"I think the Chicago sports writer (Nadel) is a little jealous that (Andrews) can bring things out of the players that he can't. Maybe he's upset that he can't have that same working relationship with Lou Piniella.

"Do I think her dress that day was totally inappropriate? No. Do I think it was a bit much for a ballgame? Yes.

"For the most part, Erin dresses pretty conservatively considering she's a beautiful woman with a slamming body.

"It's just interesting to me that the big story that day was her ... and not the Cubs and Brewers. Like Trenni (Kusnierek) said in her remarks ... that's something every female sports reporter should avoid."

Andrews addressed the situation in an interview with the Minneapolis Star-Tribune and here with Michael Hiestand of USA today.
