Published: Dec. 23, 2008 - 12:51 p.m. - As Bobby and I trudged over to Alterra for a morning coffee, in hopes that hot liquid would also thaw out our writers' blocks, we agreed that it's hard to get inspiration to write about anything other than shoveling, driving in snow or shivering at work.

Last winter -- which I generally prefer not to talk about -- didn't hit us until later and it felt way too soon for that. So, getting walloped like this at the end of November / beginning of December just seems plain cruel.

Published: Oct. 18, 2006 - 08:20 a.m. - The first snow fall caught me off guard last night after a weekend of lovely 70s, and while I’ve lived in Wisconsin long enough to know better, I still yearn for some quick sign so I know to say goodbye to summer and really relish the last warm, sunny day before fall hits us with temperatures in the 20s.
