The Whigs, a hard-charging, garage-rock trio from Athens, Ga., opened for Kings of Leon Wednesday night at the Eagles Ballroom. After supporting The Kooks on a recent tour, it was The Whigs' first night with KOL and the band was happy with its set.
Here is the intro to the next day's entry from the band's blog:
Last night we ripped in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and awoke to find that someone had broken into our van. Here is a list of things that did and did not get stolen ...
THINGS THAT DID NOT GET STOLEN:
1. NONE of our musical equipment was stolen
2. ZERO out of three laptops were stolen
THINGS THAT DID GET STOLEN BY THIS THIEF / GENIUS:
1. Matt's prescription reading glasses
2. our 1997 stereo unit (worth perhaps $40)
3. $150 cash lying directly next to an Apple Laptop which was NOT stolen.
4. Julian's iPod
5. Tim's sunglasses
6. Cookies from a tupperware bin (not the entire bin!!!) that were baked for us by fans in St. Louis. Actually, not only did he open the bin and steal a few cookies, but he took a bite out of a cookie and put it BACK in the bin. Dear Lord.
AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
We feel badly for The Whigs and promise to provide them with fresh homemade cookies the next time they visit Milwaukee.
In the meantime, we urge everyone to check out the band's music and Web site.
